UFC 133 : Rashad Evans vs. Tito Ortiz

UFC 133: Evans vs. Ortiz is an upcoming mixed martial arts event to be held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on August 6, 2011 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

UFC 133 was originally Jon Jone's first defense to his UFC Lightheavyweight title against former UFC Lightheavyweight champion Rashad Evans but he has to pull out due to what was supposed to be torn ligament on his right hand, so Rashad Evans opted accept the fight against rising contender Phil Davis. Davis had to backout of the fight on July 12 due to an injury sustained during training so Tito Ortiz was contacted as a replacement but he decline the offer so Lyoto Machida was contacted to face Rashad Evans for a rematch which Machida verbally accepted but then UFC Dana White had to cancel the match when Machida reportedly agreed only if he was paid higher but eventually, Tito Ortiz reconsidered and accepted the match.

So the final main event for UFC 133, Rashad Evans vs. Tito Ortiz and the co-main event will be a matchup against Vitor Belfort and Yoshihiro Akiyama.

A bout between Featherweight Champion José Aldo and Chad Mendes was previously rumored to take place at this event. However, Aldo is expected to be out until October recovering from injuries and Mendes will remain on the card and face Rani Yahya.

Antônio Rogério Nogueira was expected to face Rich Franklin, but pulled out of the bout on July 16, 2011 due to a shoulder injury. The UFC offered Franklin a fight with Gustafsson but Franklin declined and was pulled from the card as well.

UFC 133 featured a great card but some of the cards eventually was cancelled due to injuries of some fighters. Nonetheless, UFC 133 will still bring the fireworks with the matchups.
