Is This the End for Manny Pacquiao?

That strange feeling of defeat. It creeps down on you, forcing your tears up your tear duct, causes you to feel down and look forward to what could be ahead of the dark road in front. Yes, you have felt that feeling. But have you felt that feeling for someone not even blood-related or who does not even know you personally? At a certain time in your life, yes you have and just recently, Filipinos and some hardcore boxing fans felt the same when they saw their hero fall face-first into the canvass, not showing any life (for 20 seconds) and not beating the mandatory 10 counts.

Yes, Manny Pacquiao has fallen. Down and counted out. Defeated. The whole Philippines held their breath hoping he would rise up and still fight with what remains of him (some may have rejoiced with the scene, honestly, because they just want to hate people), but he didn't. He couldn't.

The last time I saw this scene was in 1999, I was in Grade School back then, when a lanky, undernourished Manny Pacquiao succumbed to the hands of Medgoen Singsurat. Yes, I have been a Pacquiao fan for a long-time growing up with my father in control of the remote watching boxing or basketball for most times. I've been glued to watching this guy for sometime. No internet connection conveniently available at hand before, I relied on 2-3 month old replays of fights and the newspaper for updates.

For 13 years, he kept an aura of invincibility. Losing but never knocked out cold. He was a hero and a model to many, a villain to some. He was the mold, each new Filipino fighters want to be. Every up-and-comer getting dubbed as the "New Manny Pacquiao", but falls in comparison and fails in the bright lights of the big stage. Pacquiao was the "man" for the past years. He kept raking in wins, championships and belts, and winning millions (cash and fans) in the process.

But all along we knew he won't be the best for long. Somewhere, sometime, somehow, someone will come knocking to be given the chance to give his best against the champ. Many have tried, but few have succeeded. Juan Manuel Marquez, was the closest thing to doing that for the past years. He was the Kryptonite to Pacquiao's Superman skills. Pacquiao was Samson, Marquez had any sharp object capable of cutting Samson's hair.

3 fights happened between both fighters, but none of the fight results (all decisions: Split Draw, Split Decision and Majority Decision) felt satisfying to both fighters and to the fans all over the world, the 4th fight had to happen. Then it came. The day of reckoning. One of the fighters wanted to prove one thing, that they could knock the socks off the other. That one of them was the better fighter from the other.  The world held their breath as the fight started. Trading punches and power blows, and even trading knockdowns, it was clear that both fighter's style complimented each other. And then the BIG ONE. 2 seconds before the round 6 ends, Pacquiao darts forward to attack Marquez, only to meet a big right hitting him straight in the face, causing him to fall and never to make the count.

Jubilation for the Mexicans. Grief for the Filipinos. This was what's left of the scene. A "hero" lying helpless and lifeless. A "hero" who has darted to different weight divisions over the past years, capturing titles in 8 weight divisions defeating guys bigger than him couldn't even muster enough strength to move. A "hero" who has taken all comers and contenders for years, knocking them out with all of what his got, can't barely even move his head sideways. He laid flat face-first in the canvass, a scene that was a sign of doom. When the dust settled, Marquez has won via a very devastating knockout that could be a potential Knockout of the Year Awardee. Our hero, after gaining the strength to stand up, smiled and accepted the pain of defeat.

Is This the End for Manny Pacquiao? The simplest answer to that was accurately answered by promoter Bob Arum and it goes "Losing a fight, getting knocked out is NOT death. You can always come back.". Does he still have something left in the tank to come back? Even with the defeat, Manny Pacquiao still has a lot left in the tank. He has at least 2-3 fights left against premium opponents. It is up to him if he still wants to continue this. For us, we've been satisfied with what he has shown. He has united a nation and proven a lot of things.

For now, think it over. If you ever decide to fight again, we will back you up. If you ever decide to hang it up, all I have to say is that, nice decision, Champ. :)

Fight Preview: Nonito Donaire vs Omar Narvaez

Nonito Donaire vs. Omar Narvaez is a Bantamweight Championship fight for the WBO and the WBC World titles to be held this October 22, 2011 to be held at the WaMu Theater, New York. Nonito Donaire will make his first -- and only -- title defense against junior bantamweight titleholder Omar Narvaez as he plans to move up in weight to chase after bigger fights against big-name opponents.

Nonito Donaire vs Omar Narvaez Fight Preview
Nonito Donaire vs Omar Narvaez
Nonito "The Filipino Flash" Donaire is a Filipino American professional boxer. He is a three-division world champion, where he won five titles across three different boxing weight classes. Donaire is the WBC and WBO Bantamweight World Champion. He is also the former WBA Super Flyweight Interim World Champion, IBF World Flyweight Champion and IBO World Flyweight Champion. He is also currently rated by The Ring as the number four pound-for-pound boxer in the world. He is currently riding a nine-year, 25-bout winning streak. This includes an IBF/IBO Flyweight title knockout victory of defending champion Vic Darchinyan, and a fourth-round blasting of former WBA Bantamweight champion Wladimir Sidorenko last December and a WBC/WBO Bantamweight fight agains Fernando Montiel where he dispatched Montiel in 2 rounds via TKO, ending Montiel's 25-bout winning streak while also claiming his third world title in as many weight divisions. Ten of Nonito Donaire's last 11 victories have come by way of knockout.

Omar "El Huracan" Narvaez is an Argentine southpaw professional boxer in the super flyweight (115 lb) division and is the WBO Junior Bantamweight champion. He has an immaculate record of 34-0-2 (19 KOs). He won WBO world flyweight title on July 13, 2002 by a unanimous decision win over Adonis Rivas. He defended that title 16 times with wins surpassing Carlos Monzón's national record of successful defences, holding the record with 15 defences. Omar Narvaez has mostly fought in Argentina and his fight against Donaire will be his US debut.

Entering the Nonito Donaire vs Omar Narvaez fight, Nonito Donaire has been dormant for 8 months due to contract disputes with Top Rank while Omar Narvaez has fought 3 times in 2011, this fight being the 4th. Will the ring rust on Donaire be a big factor? Maybe, but that is the main reason why Omar Narvaez was selected. Narvaez is a proven champion and a veteran but he does not have a really good punching power with only 19 KO wins in 35 total wins. This will give Donaire the time to adjust until the ring rust sets off.

Narvaez is not at all a bonus fight for Donaire. A very winnable fight but not at all a bonus. 37 people has tried to challenge Narvaez but none of them has succeeded in defeating him. Yes those opponents are not on Donaire's level but these are still boxers who are trained professionally to box and knock their opponents out. Donaire has the edge on almost everything and Narvaez' only clear edge is experience.

The key to success for Donaire in this fight is to pick his shots and save his speed and power until the middle rounds. Narvaez will be a tough cookie to crack in the early rounds so it will be a waste of energy to try (but why not try it if he sees an opening). Donaire needs to be careful as a veteran like Narvaez sure knows how to win a fight in any way possible.

Fight Fiesta Prediction for Nonito Donaire vs Omar Narvaez : Win by Nonito Donaire in round 8 via TKO. Book that.

Nick Diaz, who was originally scheduled to headline the card opposite Georges St-Pierre for the UFC Welterweight Championship, was pulled from the fight on September 7th due to multiple failed media appearances. Carlos Condit was promoted from his fight with B.J. Penn to replace Diaz and face St-Pierre.

Georges St-Pierre will look to defend his UFC Welterweight Championship for the 7th time also looks to extend his winning streak to 10. Carlos "The Killer" Condit on the other hand would want to get his hands on the UFC Welterweight belt. He has only lost once in the UFC against top welterweight Martin Kampmann.

On the co-main event, Nick Diaz will be fueled to take on former UFC Champion BJ Penn. Diaz lost his chance on challenging for the UFC Welterweight belt that St-Pierre now holds due to failure in attending media appearances but he may have a second chance if gets past BJ Penn.

UFC 136: Edgar vs Maynard III

If two fighters go on for third fight, it means that both of them went to a war and there was no convincing winner on the past fights. This remains true when Gray Maynard battles UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar on UFC 136: Edgar vs. Maynard III.

UFC 136: Edgar vs. Maynard III will be held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on October 8, 2011, at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. The event will coincide with a two day UFC Fan Expo to be held at the George R. Brown Convention Center.

UFC 136: Edgar vs Maynard III
Frankie Edgar, the current UFC Lightweight Champion has a record of 13W-1L-1D, and the lone loss and lone draw that he has on his record came in the hands of Gray Maynard. This third fight will either prove that Frankie still can't win against Maynard or the other way around. Frankie Edgar has much to lose against Gray Maynard.

Supporting the the UFC 136: Edgar vs Maynard III main card is another championship bout between UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo against 2-time title challenger Kenny Florian. Florian has not had the luck of capturing a belt in the UFC Lightweight division, in UFC 136, he will attempt to capture the UFC Featherweight Championship but it will not be an easy task against UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo who has only lost once in 20 fights, 4 of which are title defenses (3 in WEC and 1 in the UFC).

The UFC 136 fight card is stacked with really good matchups. One of which is the comeback fight of Chael Sonnen against Brian Stann. The winner of which will get a crack at the UFC Middleweight Belt.

UFC 136: Edgar vs Maynard III Main Card
Lightweight Championship bout: Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard
Featherweight Championship bout: José Aldo vs. Kenny Florian

UFC 135: Jones vs. Rampage is an upcoming mixed martial arts event to be held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on September 24, 2011 at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado.

UFC 135 will feature the first title defense of UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jon "Bones" Jones. This will be a big test for Jon "Bones" Jones as Rampage is known to be one of the hardest hitters in the UFC. Can he withstand an assault by Rampage or can Rampage withstand a relentless attack by Jon Jones?

The Ultimate Fighting Championship had its first ever event in Denver nearly 20 years prior to UFC 135, but the promotion has not operated a pay-per-view event in the Mile High City since The Ultimate Ultimate in 1995.

UFC 135: Jones vs Rampage
Jon Jones was expected to make his first title defense on August 6, 2011 at UFC 133 against Rashad Evans, but Jones was sidelined with a hand injury. It was initially announced that the hand injury would require surgery, but Jones opted for rest and rehabilitation without surgery after further consultations with doctors. Jones' injury was originally thought to keep him out of action until late 2011, but instead, he is set to make his first title defense against Quinton Jackson at this event.

Two preliminary fights of UFC 135 will be featured live on Spike TV.
