On June 12, 2010 at General Motors Place in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Ultimate Fighting Championship will hold UFC 115: Liddell vs. Franklin.
This will be the fourth UFC event to be held in Canada, following UFC 83, UFC 97 and UFC 113 and the first UFC event held in British Columbia since they passed a bill to sanction MMA, on December 17, 2009. Tickets for UFC 115 sold out within 30 minutes of going on sale breaking the previous record set by UFC 83. UFC event ticket sell like hotcakes in Canada as evidenced by ticket sales in UFC 83 and UFC 115.
The main event of this card was supposed to be the third installment of Liddell vs. Ortiz, both coaches the current Light Heavyweight The Ultimate Fighter. In March, rumours began to circulate that Rich Franklin would replace Ortiz as Liddell's opponent, after Ortiz had supposedly withdrawn from the fight, however, Dana White denied this via his Twitter account, noting that Liddell vs. Ortiz was still set to be the main event, while Franklin would face Randy Couture on a later event in 2010.
Despite confirming Chuck Liddell/Tito Ortiz 3 to be the main event for the card, the main event for UFC 115 was confirmed on April 12 as Chuck Liddell vs. Rich Franklin. The main event will still not disappoint as Rich Franklin is hungry to get back to title contention.
